Summer 2026 Update — Brisbane Pool Build Lead Times
Wahoo Pool & Landscape ConstructionSummer in Brisbane is the peak time to want a pool and the peak time to be disappointed by quotes that don't deliver. With temperatures already climbing into the mid-30s and the summer ahead promising more of the same, we wanted to share our advice for anyone seriously considering a build this year.
The summer-build paradox
Most pool builders' busiest quoting period is October to February. People feel the heat, decide they want a pool, ring three builders, get three quotes within a week.
But: those same builders are often booked through to autumn, sometimes deeper. So the pool you decide on in November might not start construction until February or March, and might not be swim-ready until June or July — mid-winter.
That's the summer-build paradox: you decide in summer, you swim in winter.
What we recommend
Two strategies that work well.
Strategy 1: Start the conversation early. If you'd like to swim in summer 2026/27, start the quote process in February-April 2026. That gives time for site visit, design, contract, council, and a 12-week build before peak summer arrives in November.
Strategy 2: Build in winter, swim in spring. Brisbane winter (May-August) is the smartest building time. Cooler weather for trades. Less rain disruption. Pool ready for spring use. We have capacity in this window every year because most clients don't think of it.
Our 2026 build calendar
As of mid-2026, our current scheduling:
- Site visits: available within a week of enquiry
- Quote turnaround: 5-10 business days after site visit
- Earliest build start (with contract signed today): approximately 8 weeks (allows for council approval window)
- Builds starting in July-August: lead times shorter as it's our quieter season
- Builds starting in October-January: longer lead times, advance booking essential
What you can do now if you're not ready to build yet
Pool builds aren't decisions to rush, and we'd actively discourage anyone from signing too quickly. If you're months away from being financially ready:
- Visit the Capalaba showroom to look at samples (no obligation)
- Read through our package pages to understand pricing
- Have us out for a site visit (free) so you've got real numbers when you're ready
- Browse our blog articles on the build process and council requirements
- Look at our customer stories for builds in your area
This is what we'd call 'informed waiting'. When the moment arrives, you'll be ready to act decisively.
What we're seeing in 2026
A few trends from our quoting and building activity this year:
- More clients are choosing rectangular pools over freeform or kidney shapes
- Integrated spas are now in about 50% of our family pool builds, up from 30% three years ago
- Frameless glass fencing remains the dominant choice (about 70% of clients)
- Earthier pebble-crete tones (greys, charcoals, sandstones) are increasing as Mediterranean blue's share drops
- Build budgets are stable around $55K-$80K for the majority of family pools
None of this is revolutionary. The pool market in Brisbane is mature and stable. The trends shift slowly.
What's also stable: our team and pricing approach
Same four-person team. Same QBCC licence. Same fixed-pricing approach. Same 10-year warranty.
We haven't shifted these things in years and we don't plan to. Pool building rewards consistency, and we'd rather be reliable than novel.
If you're ready
Whether you're 6 months away from signing or you'd like to start tomorrow, the conversation is the same. Get in touch through the website, or ring the office on 1300 924 666 during business hours.
Wishing everyone a great summer ahead — whether yours involves a new pool, an existing pool, or just the planning of one.
