Hundreds of Verified Google Reviews — Thank You
Cathy DillonPool industry awards generally make us a bit uncomfortable. We've never been the company that submits photos to magazines or angles for trade-body recognition.
That said, we'd like to publicly thank our clients for something that genuinely matters more than any industry award: our Google review rating.
Wahoo Pool & Landscape Construction has earned a 4.6/5 average across hundreds of verified Google reviews from Queensland families. We didn't ask for that rating. We didn't run a campaign for it. Clients have left those reviews on their own initiative over the years.
Why this matters more than industry awards
Pool industry awards are usually peer-judged. Other builders, magazines, trade bodies. They have a place — they recognise technical achievement.
Google reviews are client-judged. They reflect the actual experience of working with us. Nobody pays clients to write reviews. The 4.6/5 means hundreds of real Brisbane families have, at the end of their build, taken the time to share that they were genuinely happy.
That's a better signal of quality than any trophy.
What clients typically mention
Reading through the reviews periodically, the recurring themes are:
- Honest pricing with no surprises
- Communication during the build (weekly updates)
- Mike's site visit and design approach
- Travis's handover and ongoing support
- Build delivered close to or on schedule
- The pool looks better than they expected
What people don't say (and we appreciate this): they don't say we were the cheapest. They say we were honest, professional, and delivered. That's the position in the market we've always wanted.
The honest review of our reviews
We do occasionally get less-than-five-star reviews. We read every one. The patterns:
- Weather delays that frustrated a client (we own this even though weather is genuinely outside our control)
- A specific finish that didn't quite match expectations (a colour reading differently when wet)
- One client whose dog was upset by trades (fair point, we now ask earlier about pets)
We don't dispute negative reviews. We respond honestly, sometimes acknowledge fault, occasionally explain context, and move on.
The unhappy clients we don't have
The clients we'd most worry about — the ones who'd write a one-star review — don't exist for us in the way they might at other companies. That's not luck. It's the result of:
- Fixed pricing that doesn't grow during the build
- Weekly written updates so clients always know what's happening
- Pre-build conversations about what's reasonable and what's not
- Honest scope of what we can and can't do
- Saying no to jobs we shouldn't take on (sloping sites we couldn't engineer, sites with bad access, budgets that don't match the build)
We've turned away maybe 1 in 10 enquiries over the years because the brief and the budget didn't align, or because we genuinely couldn't deliver what the client wanted. Saying no is part of being honest.
Why we're sharing this now
Mainly because in launching our website, we want potential clients to know where to look for real information about us. The Google reviews are the most accurate. Search 'Wahoo Pool Construction reviews' on Google and read them. All of them, even the less-positive ones.
If you make us your builder, you'll know what you're getting. And we'd ask you, at handover, to leave an honest review yourself — good, bad, or in between.
