Redland City Council Pool Build FAQ

My block is in the Koala Habitat Overlay. Can I still build a pool?+

Yes — the overlay doesn't ban pools, it regulates tree removal. If your design requires removing koala habitat trees (specific eucalypt species), you'll need a separate clearing permit and possibly an ecological assessment. In most cases we can position the pool to retain all habitat trees. We assess this at the free site visit before quoting.

Does bayside salt air affect pool equipment lifespan?+

Yes — within 1km of the bay, salt air corrosion is real and we use marine-grade hardware for fencing, gate hinges, ladder fittings and equipment housing. Zodiac Titanium equipment itself is already corrosion-resistant. We've never seen a Wahoo bayside pool equipment failure attributable to salt air, but the standard housing brackets and stainless components can corrode without the upgrade. The marine-grade upgrade adds approximately $400–$900 to the build depending on extent.

My property has a Conservation Lot overlay. What does that mean for pool placement?+

Conservation overlays usually restrict building envelopes and tree clearing. Pool placement options can be narrower than on standard blocks. We work with you to find a position that complies, often within the existing house footprint or already-cleared yard. Most Conservation Lot pool builds we've done in Redland have been approvable — it just requires careful design before lodgement.

Can I visit the Wahoo showroom before quoting?+

Absolutely — walk-ins welcome Mon–Fri 8am–4:30pm. Our Capalaba showroom (Unit 3, 73-75 Steel Street) has full-scale pebble-crete colour panels, travertine and bluestone coping samples, and live Zodiac equipment running so you can see and hear what's going in your build.
